Stereotypical Dates Single Mothers Aren't Looking For
from: Karlie BestlerDon't be one of the stereotypical dates single mothers dating laugh about to each other or their friends. Many single mothers are strong, independent women who know what they want. They have seen many good prospects fall by the wayside because they don't get where she's coming from. Here are a few single mother dating tips:
The Knight In Shining Armor
If a single mother got that way because she's divorced, she's long over the knight in shining armor fantasy. Many single mothers complain that this is exactly the type of man they attract. Single mothers refer to them as "rescuers." The men feel a need to rescue them from a life they consider shameful or unacceptable. While the intent might be good, they tend to come off as controlling and condescending. They don't realize that the single mother has been surviving on her own and raising children without a man present for some time. She deserves respect, not rescuing.
The Momma's Boy
He still lives at home or shares an apartment with buddies. He doesn't cook his own meals. He barely makes a living. He's in his 30's or 40's and never married. Some are even in their 20's. He's happy to date you - you remind him of his mother! Many younger men, particularly momma's boys, love older women. Most single mothers already have enough children of their own and aren't looking for another one.
The Madonna Worshipper
We are talking about the musical singer Madonna. Some men seem to think that single mothers make easy targets. They think single moms just sit around being lonely and pining for companionship. If a single mother is dating, she is probably managing her romantic life the same way she manages the rest of her life. She probably knows what she wants and she and she is working on getting it, too. But every now you get one of these men who seem to think that single mothers are easy targets because they're supposedly grateful to have anyone interested in them.
What does a single mother dating want? She wants pretty much the same thing she wanted before she had children. She wants an equal partner who will come into the relationship not with delusions of saving her or being taken care. Single mothers want a genuine connection with a man who might be willing to share her life, which includes her children. If the man thinks it's all about the fun stuff, she is likely to size him up as immature and move on.
