Dating Preparation For Single Mothers
from: Karlie BestlerFor single mothers, dating preparation can take the best multi-tasking skills they have for the date to occur. Getting ready for a special date for a single mother requires careful management of time and money with babysitters and family potentially involved. It may mean trying to juggle a date while the children are with their father.
Try To Relax And Enjoy Yourself
If you have done your homework and carefully screened a person to your satisfaction, you can hopefully have your mind on your date and not your children or the former spouse. One of the keys to a successful date for single mothers is the preparation that allows her to be free of worry and stress. Relax as you get ready. Agree to events that you know will interest and amuse you. Keep your mind off your obligations at home. Keep the conversation light and try to have some fun! It may be nerve wracking to be dating again, and it may have been exhausting to get the preparations done, but it can also be exhilarating and affirm your womanhood.
Give Details Of Your Date To Your Stand-In Caregiver
Although its important to keep the children from being involved too deeply in your romantic adventures, it is wise to provide the stand-in caregiver the details of where you are going and with whom. If this is a new date, give the name of the gentleman and where you are going. If you have a cell phone, give your cell phone number and ask them to call you at a certain time to check in on you. Use a password to signal if you feel you are in danger. This may seem overboard, but it means keeping your risk low so that you can return to take care of your children.
What If Your Date Wants A Sleepover?
If the relationship has progressed to a more intimate level, it is still best to keep that action away from the children. Unfortunately, for single mothers dating preparation for a stayover may mean choosing a date when the child is with the non-custodial parent. In the event that this isn't likely to happen soon, maybe you could schedule a trip away from home while your children stay with a relative.
Use Protection For Your Sake And Your Children
With the gamut of sexually transmitted diseases around, some of which are quite seriour or even fatal, it is wise for single mothers dating preparation to include protection. A pregnancy or illness could cause her to lose her health, her job and ultimately her children. As harsh as it may sound, single mothers have a lot more to lose and a lot more people depending on her should her date turn into a one-night stand that leaves a lifetime problem.
