Applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements based on income, expenses, available resources and whether the mom is pregnant or not.
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, health care coverage may be provided retroactively for three months to eligible recipients. This source of government assistance for single moms must be applied for through the state in which the single mom lives.
