Government Grants For Single Mothers
from: Karlie BestlerIf you are a single mom struggling to get by, you are not alone. Whether you have gone through a divorce or the father is absent, most single mothers face the burden of supporting themselves and their children on one income.
Only 15% of women going through a divorce are awarded any form of court-ordered spousal support, and only 66% of those women ever receive what is awarded to them. Less than half of the women awarded child support ever receive the full amount. Within the first year of divorce a women's average standard of living falls 45% while a man's grows 15%.
A government grant is one way for single mothers to get some help. A grant is an award of financial assistance that does not have to be paid back. Grants are associated by federal, state, local or tribal government, research institution or academia, not-for-profit, or any other kind of institution.
